Privacy Policy (Datenschutzerklärung)
This policy is provided in English. A German version (Datenschutzerklärung auf Deutsch) is available on request at hello@linux-doctor.com. Last updated: 15 October 2026.
1. Controller
IT-Services S10R.DE, represented by Carsten Schabacker, Oberes Bieth 4, 69221 Dossenheim, Germany, email hello@linux-doctor.com. See also the imprint.
2. What we process
- Subscriber data: your email address and the sources you chose, plus technical fields needed to run the service (subscription status, confirmation/unsubscribe tokens, timestamps).
- Server logs: when you visit this site, our web server (nginx) temporarily logs IP address, date/time, requested URL, status code, and user agent. This is needed for security and stable operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and kept for about 14 days (daily rotation, 14 archived files), after which they are deleted automatically.
- Signup protection: to prevent abuse we temporarily store your IP address for rate limiting (up to one hour).
We do not use tracking cookies, analytics, or tracking pixels in emails.
3. Cookies and third-party resources
This website does not set any cookies and does not store or read information on your device (no localStorage, sessionStorage, or similar). We do not use tracking, analytics, advertising, or social-media plugins. All pages load only from our own server: no third-party fonts, CDNs, scripts, embeds, or images are requested by your browser. Links to external news sources only lead to those sites when you click them. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, no cookie consent banner is required.
4. Search engines and Google Search Console
Our public pages may be crawled and indexed by search engines such as Google and Bing, and may appear in their search results. You can find the crawling rules in our robots.txt.
We use Google Search Console to monitor how the site appears in Google Search. Ownership of the site is verified via a DNS record; no code or tag is embedded in our pages and nothing is loaded from Google when you visit. Through Search Console, Google provides us with aggregated search performance data about the site (e.g. impressions, clicks, and queries); we do not receive personal data of individual visitors from it, and we do not pass visitor data to Google. Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a functioning, findable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Google's own processing of search data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Purpose and legal basis
We send you a daily email digest of the sources you selected. Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, given through a double opt-in: you enter your email address and then confirm via a link we send you. Unconfirmed signups are automatically deleted after 48 hours.
6. Withdrawing consent / unsubscribe
You can unsubscribe at any time with one click via the link in every email (or by emailing hello@linux-doctor.com). Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Unsubscribed addresses are kept only as a suppression record so you do not receive further mail, and are deleted on request.
7. Recipients and processors
- Resend (Resend, Inc., USA) – email delivery processor. It receives your email address and the message content in order to send our emails. Transfers to the USA rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g. EU Standard Contractual Clauses / EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable); a data processing agreement is in place or accepted via Resend's terms.
- Netcup GmbH (Germany) – hosting provider of the server on which the website and database run (processor under Art. 28 GDPR).
We do not sell your data or share it with anyone else.
8. Retention
Subscriber data is stored as long as your subscription is active. Pending signups: 48 hours. Backups are rotated (about 14 days). Server logs: about 14 days.
9. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection (Art. 21) as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time (Art. 7(3)). Contact hello@linux-doctor.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the one in your state of residence.
10. Security
The site is served over HTTPS; the server is hardened (key-only SSH, firewall) and data is accessible only to the operator.
11. Changes
We may update this policy; the current version is always available at this URL.
