How to pick
Local AI news comes in three layers: the software that runs models, the models themselves, and the hardware stack underneath. Follow at least one source per layer.
Inference engines and tools
Release notes for llama.cpp, Ollama, vLLM, Open WebUI and LM Studio tell you when a new model or feature is supported. GitHub release pages are the most reliable primary source.
Models and research
The Hugging Face blog and daily papers show what is new on the hub. Interconnects and Ahead of AI explain training and post-training in depth, and are good for judging which releases matter.
Hardware and drivers
NVIDIA's technical blog and AMD's ROCm blog cover the GPU side, including performance work for inference. Release notes for ROCm are useful if you run AMD cards.
Agents and practice
Simon Willison's weblog and Latent Space report on hands-on experiments, and the release notes of terminal agents such as Claude Code, Codex CLI and Aider show how fast that area changes.
Community
Communities such as r/LocalLLaMA are good for early reports and benchmarks, but treat claims with care and verify before relying on them.
